In 2024 I was lucky enough to come across a local disabled people led social enterprise based in Wigan and dedicated to promoting inclusion and diversity through lived experiences. Having a disability myself their work to promote inclusion for everyone was wonderful to witness. Seeing disability as a positive driver for change and that everybody, no matter what their disability, is a key piece in making society and the world of employment a better place. What makes Happy Smiles Training special is that the training given to organistaions is by the volunteers themselves, using their experiences of disability, to make for a truly profound experience as they deliver their talks. I asked Happy Smiles if there was anything I could do for them, and they where open to my ideas. I suggested a poster and animation, which you can see below. They were very happy with the finished pieces, and I was so pleased to help out such an inspiring enterprise.
